How to fix CS2 community servers not working

Where are all the CS2 community servers?

Community servers have always played a vital role in fostering Counter-Strike’s vibrant community, hence the confusion when you can’t see a single server listed in CS2, making them wonder whether community servers are working.

With CS2 taking the franchise to Source 2, I expected community servers to capitalize on the change, offering more customizability options and smoother gameplay, but they were on the back foot for a while, especially during CS2‘s launch period. After the initial excitement of the launch settled, many eventually just wanted to return to their favorite community servers, only to find the game servers list in CS2 empty.

Yes, you can fix the community servers not working error in CS2 by restarting the game and setting it as an exception on your anti-virus/firewall software.

During CS2‘s initial release, community servers didn’t show up at all. Valve added them with a hotfix, but they can still disappear at times. In most cases, a simple restart will be your best option, and most servers should return to the list by themselves after a while. Alternatively, you can also use third-party community server finders.

Where can you find CS2 community servers?

The game servers list in CS2 is often the first place that players check out to find community servers. If the list is empty, you can also check out Discord, Reddit communities, alongside online server browsers to discover more servers that might not be highlighted on CS2’s server list.

CS2 community servers are likely to become available over time, meaning you’ll need to check the game servers list frequently. To join a community server in CS2 when it becomes available, you’ll need to follow the steps below:

  1. Launch CS2.
  2. Choose Play.
  3. Select the Globe icon located next to Practice and Matchmaking.
  4. Select a server and choose Connect.

Some of the most popular community servers give players access to the best CS2 cases to open and the best CS2 skins, allowing them to test their favorite cosmetics before adding them to their collection.

Before I click on the buy button in Steam’s Community Store, I generally load into a Community Server where all the skins are unlocked to see what a cosmetic item looks like during active gameplay.
